Vella Ventures, Ltd., Managing Director

Mr. Vella is a mobile financial services expert and independent advisor/consultant to players large (such as Visa, Vodafone and the GSMA) and small (a number of startups) in the space.

Prior to offering his services-at-large, Mr. Vella was at RBS where he led the bank’s mobile efforts globally. Before RBS, he spent five years with PayPal, starting out as the Director of Business Development in the US Merchant Services team and finally as the Head of Mobile Payments leading the mobile payments initiative in Europe.


Royal Bank of Scotland, Digital Channels

Terry has over 15 years experience in the mobile industry working in both the public and private sectors. He has been developing mobile applications and mobile solutions for the last 8 years, and is fueled by the belief that the right combination of technology, design and customer experience can really change the way we go about our daily lives.  In his current role as Head of Mobile, Terry owns the strategic direction and delivery of the award winning RBS UK Retail Mobile Banking Service. 

Terry joined RBS UK (Retail) as Head of Solution Design for Mobile in November 2011. In this role, Terry was the Design Authority for the business architecture and solution design of the RBS retail banking mobile application, which currently has over 2.7 million active users.  



Mobile Data Association, Chairman

Mike Hawkes is a well respected figure in the security industry and principal inventor for new products and patents at MHInvent Ltd. Mike is Chairman of the Mobile Data Association and previously headed up M- Commerce and Security for the MDA. Until recently Mike also contributed to the GSMA Security Committee.

Prior to joining MHInvent as the CSO, Mike was CTO at Broca Plc. and inventor of Broca’s secure text messaging products. As part of his work at Broca, Mike acted as one of the primary press contacts for mobile security. He has published many press articles and spoken at both national and international conferences as an expert in mobile commerce and security. 




Christophe Langlois is a team leader, a published author and a social media practitioner.  Since he launched back in February 2007, Christophe established himself as one of the most trusted advisers to the worldwide financial services industry on the topics of social media, digital innovation and voice of the customer (both strategy and execution).

Christophe is a regularly requested chairperson and keynote speaker at conferences.  In the last seven years, he has contributed to over 140 events in 18 countries.





Ed Hodges is EVP, EMEA for InAuth Inc which provides Financial Services and Online Retailers with an advanced security and fraud detection platform for mobile and browser. Before InAuth he was Head of Mobile for RBS with responsibility for bringing together the vision, strategy and delivery of the Corporate Banking Division (CBD) mobile channels. He has worked with Tesco setting up their mobile application development team and advising on mobile strategy while delivering the first wave of Tesco’s apps including the successful iPhone Grocery app. Previous to this he was Head of Mobile at Touchnote the award winning photo messaging and mobile postcard service.



Syoncloud, CEO

Ladislav founded Syoncloud after successful big data science projects for banks Credit Suisse and HSBC. 

He has 17 years' experience as a programmer, project manager, analyst and consultant in IT projects for banks and telecoms in Europe and the USA. He is co-founder of Webswell Inc. that developed open source integration tools and gained customers such as Honeywell.



Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, Head of e-Banking and m-Banking

With a degree in MsC in Computer Science from Lund Tekniska Hogskola in Sweden and an MBA from University of Lausanne in Switzerland, Bogdan joined BCV in 2006 to lead the development of the current BCV-net platform, BCV's e-Banking solution. His main objective is to offer e-banking users a wide range of innovative solutions that can answer their banking needs with user experience as the major focus. 

Since 2011, he's been focused on the BCV's Mobile Banking project  and its marketing campaign. The big challenge he is now facing is to evolve the mobile platform in parallel to the e-banking platform as a more practical alternative, one adapted to today's hyper-connected customers. 



Governor Technology, Managing Director

Gilbert is Managing Director of Governor Technology, an award-winning web development and mobile agency, counting Microsoft, Linkedin, Citibank and LV as clients. In 2012 he founded the Cookie Collective, the UK’s leading provider of cookie law compliance and online privacy solutions.

Prior to this, Gilbert spent 7 years working in investment banking, leading projects to roll out Citigroup’s first wave of funds websites across Europe, and automating and outsourcing complex business processes. He sits on the DMA Mobile and Connected Marketing Council, and is Chair of the Best Practice Hub.



PayPal, VP and General Manager - CEMEA

Laurent is a graduate from HEC in Paris and received an MBA from London Business School. He began his career as consultant at McKinsey before creating and managing Talent Manager a London based HR Services Company.

Laurent joined PayPal in 2004 as head of business development for the UK. In 2006, he moved to France to lead growth of PayPal’s merchant services activities, and became general manager of PayPal France in 2008. Since 2010, Laurent is VP and General Manager of PayPal in CEMEA.

Jo Bertram recently joined Uber to leads its UK & Ireland operations. Jo joins with over 8 years of management consultancy experience having worked for McKinsey and Accenture on many different projects varying from telecommunications, transportation, as well as regulatory strategy, FMCG and agriculture.

Though born and bred in the UK, her work has taken Jo to Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, Ethiopa, UAE, and South Africa. Though she wasn't able to fly back from South Africa to the UK herself, Jo holds a private pilot license. She also holds an MBA from INSEAD and is a keen skier and loves to travel off the beaten track, with Antarctica being the latest highlight.

Dr. Pousttchi is an associate professor of business informatics and mobile business at the University of Augsburg. As an internationally recognized mobile payments expert he was involved in numerous projects since 2001.

Besides his research work, Pousttchi is the author and editor of eleven books and numerous research articles, a keynote speaker and a supervisory board member of a publicly traded company. He is frequently asked to comment for the media, from German national radio and TV to the New York Times.



British Retail Consortium, Lead - Payments, eCommerce and Consumer Credit

Richard’s work covers all issues related to payment systems, including cost, litigation, regulation and security, in both the UK and Europe. E-commerce covers all elements of online retail, including mobile, tablet and more traditional forms of telephone sales and mail order. He previously worked at the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts, focused on the role of innovation and technology as a driver of growth. 

Previously, Richard worked in a political consultancy in the property and development industry and as the Parliamentary Researcher in an MPs House of Commons office.

Kevin Burns works in the BT Payments Solutions team, and is responsible for the Design of the Solution Portfolio, Group Strategy and the Business Development within BT Payments, an agile team within the BT Centre of Excellence for Billing.

Prior to this Kevin was with BT Expedite since its inception and has over 15 years experience in the Retail IT arena, including time as a retailer.

With previous experience at Lucent O2 and leading Dutch mobile provider Tele2, Raymond has deep knowledge about how Mobile and Finance enhance each other. Neil founded Proxama in 2005 (then called Glue4 Technologies). The business focused on creating services that link people and brands using consumer technologies. In 2008, the company was rebranded as Proxama with a focus on the applications of mobile, smartcard and NFC technologies. Rachel is responsible for delivering MasterCard’s vision of converged digital payments in Europe: enabling a consumer to make any transaction from any connected device – online, in store or on the move.

Rachel’s recent achievements include supporting the launch of MasterCard’s MasterPass digital wallet in the UK and partnering with EE to launch Cash on Tap NFC service. Before joining MasterCard, Rachel was regional lead for Mobile Payments for Visa in Continental Europe Middle East and Africa.

Pemberton is a business-lead CIO with a successful track record  in B2B, B2C, leisure,  hospitality, property, financial, commercial & corporate sectors.

Commercially aware, with a broad range of IT and Digital management experience gained within leading organisations.  Richard has a varied background in technology working across various sectors. He has spent the last 6 years working in the hospitality industry which included designing and delivering the IT infrastructure, operational and in-room systems for some world class hotels.

Currently he is CIO at Interchange and Consort hotels which runs the Best Western hotels brand in the UK & Beacon Purchasing.



Encap Security, CEO

Jørgensen joined Encap Security as the CEO in 2011, bringing more than 10 years of experience in building businesses across the MFS, identity management and mobile application security sectors.

Before Encap, Thomas was CEO at Luup, a pioneer in mobile payments and mobile money transfer for banks. As well as executing global strategic partnerships with Deutsche Bank for rolling out mobile money, Thomas was VP of Research and Development at Force Group and in November 2001 co-founded Voycast AS.

Paul is Chairman and Founder of Vendorcom, the Cards & Payments Community. Prior to setting up Vendorcom in 2003, Paul spent over 15 years in the retail and consumer products sectors with roles in buying, production control and logistics management. Subsequent consulting, marketing and business development roles with KPMG Management Consulting and Oracle Corporation, have added skills in IT implementation and project management.

In his role with the GSMA, Pierre works with the Mobile Network Operator community bringing them together with wider vertical industries to foster the development of digital commerce and mobile services that will benefit businesses and consumers alike.

Before joining GSMA, he was in charge of open innovation in Orange Group product marketing. He also gathered broad technical experience through various technical management jobs in digital broadcasting, broadband wireless access, and IPTV areas. Judah is an expert in telecommunications and mobile financial services, with over 17 years of experience in strategic planning, commercial development, technology innovation, and management for organizations in both developed and emerging markets.

GSMA, Project Director, Mobile Commerce Programme

Olivier Tessier joined the GSMA in 2013 as an Project Director; he is responsible for the GSMA's Digital Commerce programme's finance and payment project. The project currently concentrates on the enablement of more effective service deployments; TSM deployment, digital wallet, secure SIM services along with technical enablement and testing.

Prior to his current role, he managed several deployments for a Mobile Operator for more than 6 years, as senior NFC Technical Lead at Swisscom in Switzerland and headed the SIM and NFC Services Product team at SFR in France. Whilst there he took the opportunity to be involved in the first NFC trials in France, and coordinated the first AFSCM guidelines as the chairman of the Technical Committee for more than two years.

Beginning her career as a research analyst in the mobile financial services and remittances industries, Ms. Diana Boncheva acquired a strong foundation in various MFS topics. 

She operationalized this knowledge by developing business cases, strategies, and implementation plans for firms in the MFS space. Working for an MFS service provider, Diana launched and managed mobile payments projects focusing on parking, ticketing, debt, m-wallets and digital content. Diana holds an international affairs graduate degree from SAIS Johns Hopkins specializing in economics and emerging markets.



Birmingham City University, Senior Lecturer, Future Media

Mark Brill is a brand consultant in mobile and innovation technologies, as well as a Senior Lecturer in Future Media at BCU. With over 21 years working in digital channels, he has delivered major projects for global brands.

In his role as Chair of the DMA Mobile and Connected Marketing council he has worked to promote the mobile channel and develop best practice within it. His work focuses on helping brands understand next generation mobile technologies, the channels they create and the opportunities for business.

Travis Ledwith is the Founder of FLIP, the digital retail bank designed from the ground up for today’s mobile consumers. Sanford is an adventurous product technologist with a passion for the intersection of people, products, and technology.  Reflective of his eclectic background, has has been responsible for products and services in telecoms, media and technology.  Recent roles include CTO for a big-data social media metric company, CTO for an online corporate edtech company and CTO for a white-label mobile music application.
